About Duane
I founded and run FairSay. I've been working with the Internet since 1989 and the first person I was in touch with on the Internet also works with FairSay: Petri (he's based in Finland while I am in London, UK). Even before that I was working with computers and early 360 baud modems (blistering slow). So working with interactive media is 'in my blood' so to speak.
My interest has always been to set-up a company that make a significant positive difference in the world. I'm not there yet - but give me a few years. FairSay is a direct result of that passion and while it isn't always easy, I get to work with wonderful people, wonderful organisations on wonderful projects - so that is a good start.
FairSay as an idea emerged in 1999 and after investigating it for a while I joined Oxfam GB as their first eCampaigning Manager in 2001. They always knew I'd only be with them for a while so I made the most of the opportunities the role and organisation gave while they got the most out of me to make them the sector leader in this field (although it helps to have the brand, budgets and talent they have!).
I left to setup FairSay in 2004 and since then have kept it going with an impressive range of clients including Oxfam GB (of course), Greenpeace International, Amnesty International Secretariat. WWF International, WWF UK, Oxfam Novib (Netherlands), Christian Aid, World Vision, Make Poverty History UK, GCAP, Stop Climate Chaos (I Count), Trade Justice Movement, Advocacy Online, NSPCC and, Plan International.
Before that I worked with AIESEC at the local (Hamilton, Canada), National (Finland) and International (Brussels, Belgium as a Director) levels before exploring the corporate world with Cap Gemini in Singapore (eBusiness Consultant) and UBS in Switzerland (CSR Specialist). Oh yea - I also DJed on radio and in clubs and events in Canada for 8-ish years until I went to Finland.
These days I live in London, UK with my partner and 2 amazing children (Noe and Gaia) and hope to give them the same experience my brother and I had when we were young: a 15 month trip around the world through 33 countries on 5 continents in a VW van.
